About this site
Hi! My name is Mathew Ingram, and I'm the former chief digital writer for the Columbia Journalism Review. Before that I worked for Fortune magazine, and prior to that I worked for a blog network based in San Francisco called Gigaom, and before that I was a reporter, columnist and social-media editor for a daily newspaper in Canada called the Globe and Mail.
In my spare time, I like to collect weird and/or interesting news on my personal blog, which I collect in this newsletter, When The Going Gets Weird. The name comes from a quote by infamous gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson, who said "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." If you have any thoughts or links you'd like to share, please feel free to comment, or drop me a line at mathew@mathewingram.com – or find me on Twitter at @mathewi. I'm also on Mastodon as well, at mathewi@journa.host and on Bluesky.
I don't charge a subscription fee for this newsletter, but I would appreciate it if you felt like contributing to this little project, either by upgrading your subscription to paid, or by contributing to my Patreon, which is here.
